Pottery Vlog

1 min read
Hello everyone!

I know it's been an age or so since I've written a journal or have even been respectfully active.  I just want to let you know that it is going to change!  I have been very active on my online presence lately with videos, images, and more surrounding my art!  I fired the large kiln at my studio and did a Vlog of unloading the kiln.  It is a very exciting process for a ceramic artist to unload a glaze fire. It's the final hurrah to see how their work actually turned out!

In that note, I thought I would share that with my viewers here!  Look forward to more work soon and hopefully a lot more vlogs of some of my art and processes!

I plan on doing a couple drawings for a chance to win some of my pottery.  Stay tuned! :shamrock:

Hello,

I have not welcomed much of my new subscribers.  I would like to give a big shout out to all of you!  The comments and feedback are always greatly appreciated.  I'm glad I am getting a good number of admirers!  ahah!  <3

Alright, here's my current situation.  I have this highschool student who wants to motivate himself to draw more so he sent a challenge out on Facebook announcing he wanted to do theme drawings weekly.  Each day he would create a drawing with a total of 7 at the end of the week.  He never got anyone in his age group to participate, so I messaged him to accept his challenge and told him I have a busy schedule so we'll have a turn in of every Monday so I don't get left behind.

He was delighted with the notion, so starting last week we started our first prompt of 'Faces'.  We turned them in and I was impressed to see him stick to it.  This week we are doing 'Mythical Creatures'.  I find this project very motivational and encourage anyone who would be interested to keep up with something like this, to give it a shot!  I am about to post all of my faces from last week and will continue to post prompts on Mondays.  If you want to figure out what we are doing in a week, message me and I'll tell you.  If you just want to stay a step behind us and start on faces, that would be great too!  I thought it was a simple, but great idea for artists.  It builds motivation, gets us prepped for dead-lines, pushes us to create and rapidly think creatively.  plus, practice makes perfect!  Message me if you are interested!!!

Happy Drawing,

-Josh :shamrock:

Hello DA,

It's not often I update my journals, but I have picked up Pottery sense my last journal entry last year and, I've picked up a lot of new styles of painting and sculpture as well.  I'm happy to see as many viewers as I've accumulated through this past year as well.  It makes me feel improved as an artist for sure.  I've had a Daily deviation on this site and have been asked to join several groups.

I've not only improved on my art this last year, but, I do it more.  In almost every moment of every day that I can have available toward creating something, I do just that.  I've even created my own website and try my best to improve it as time goes on.  The website is my first name and last name dot com. www.joshhogge.com.  I always enjoy feed-back on my work and my website, so don't be shy about critiquing me in any of it.

Upon everything mentioned, I'm taking commissions a lot and push it toward my online viewers as well.  If you want something done, don't be shy with me.  I'm sure we can figure out a transaction.  If anything, I love bartering art for more art!  Just keep that in mind.

Anyway, it's the end of my third year of college and I keep busy as ever.  I pour a lot of love and passion in what I do and I hope it shows to you guys.  I Also have an auction this thursday that I got 4 pieces juried into it.  You can check it out on Facebook:
www.facebook.com/OPSUArtAuctio… and I have jury for Paseo District in OK City this week as well.  They are both very exciting things, and I hope to do well in both.

Shamrock,

-Josh Hogge

Hello everyone!

I do hope the holidays have treated you all well!  I have been having myself a time and quite a break for sure.  Within the first week of my break I got 4 sculptures, a tea set, and several ceramic items bisk fired.  I'm sure I'm going to have them glazed and finished by the time I go back to classes.  I also have yet to get my finals photos of all my 3-d work I've done over the last semester.  So hold tight! =D

What I really wanted to disscuss, was my gallery.  Sense it's a new year, I usually go through my gallery and scrap old lesser work, move all my best things to my featured works and just organize in general.  If any of you could help by giving me an idea of what I should keep in my gallery or go back out of my scraps or back to my features, than feel free to scurry around and comment on them.

I'm trying to get my best works shown with all the progress I've made.  I am getting more and more structured, and my gallery should so such structure.

Thanks for the help, my birthday is tomorrow I keep getting reminded, heh!  So I guess my celibrations arn't yet over!

Take care and cheers!

Hello Deviants,

I hope you are appreciating the earth today.  It is it's day.  Drive less, walk more and just think of saving energy as you go room to room.  It's auch a grand sight here for earth day... We have a lovely shower of rain and the green just shines brighter with the sun.  I had myself a calm walk through it even... Still a bit wet as I type...

The changes I've had to my art, is I have a lot of more stuff done, just no type of camera to get it up to show anyone.  So I've been stuck out to getting updates with my art.... I will have all my finished sculpture work out at the end of this semester before Summer kicks off!  So be expecting it...

I am also going to Oregan to the family this Summer.  It is still undecided whether I'm driving myself or if I am going by ticket from a train, bus or flying... If I do go by ticket, I won't be able to take my art supplies, so I'm on hopes to driving.  It will only take me two days to get there, so it won't be bad and I enjoy the scenery...

Hope everyone's enjoying Earth Day,

Later than!
